Our belief is that healing and wholeness comes from a place where you recognize that there is nothing to be “fixed” as there is nothing that is “broken”. People don’t break. They get hurt and then they heal. This doesn’t mean that the damage never existed, it means that we no longer allow it to define us.
Wholeness is not a place where there is no pain, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of all of life’s challenges and still remember that you are complete.
In the world of psychology, we are really good at defining what is wrong with us. The system teaches us to diagnose, label, and symptomize to help people heal but it does not show us what it looks like to be whole. It does not recognize that the path to healing and wholeness is unique for each person.
Wholeness is a complex and personal issue, because it involves all of what makes us human – mind, body, soul, and the part of us that lives on forever, our spirit.
We believe healing from the illusion of brokenness is a matter of releasing what we have been told, so we can remember who we truly are. It’s the space and place where there’s no more hiding – only embracing of all of it.
Remembering our identity, standing in who we are and rising up to share our gifts with our family and community.
Our campus is located 25 minutes north of Edmonton in Sturgeon County area. Previously the location of Lily Lake Resort and the Red Barn, this land has been reimagined as Lionsheart Wholeness Centre. The spirit of the land is strong and it inherently creates a sacred, healing container for the learners. As a social- economic model, the learners are often included in helping the property to transform into its new purpose as it is a collective effort to build our community and grow together. The 298 acre location is rich with medicines, wild life and quiet space to reconnect to the land.
Empowering individuals and families to create their own pathway to healing, our retreat courses are taught by dedicated and experienced facilitators who understand what it means to create a sacred container where the learners are seen first and foremost as spiritual beings. The course series focuses on each step of lighting your inner fire so that you are able to begin a process of healing and transformation that allows you to step into your purpose in the world. Our trauma-informed team is here to walk beside you on your journey in a safe relationship as you take one step at a time into being the most independant you can be and find your way into what wholeness is for you. The centre is located 25 min north of Edmonton in a rural retreat space with access to horses, farm animals, canoeing, outdoor activities, art as well as cultural activities such as beading, hide scraping, ribbon skirt making and more. Lionsheart Wholeness Centre recognizes the individuality of all Learners and therefore strives to meet each one where they are at and set up an individualized care plan that is worked on simultaneously to being in the course classes.
We embrace a learning environment that will prepare you for the path ahead through experiential, hands on learning. The tools and teachings are taught in a way that gives integration time within a space where you will use the tools in a practical way with other Learners and Co-Learners. We believe the best way to learn something is to do it in order to truly embody the teachings.
Recognizing with great reverence , that we, as an organization, are on Treaty 6 territory, Lionsheart Wholeness Centre honours the spirit of the land as being Indigenous and therefore believes the Indigenous ways and teachings must be the core foundation of the learning experience for all of our courses.
